ULTIMATE BACHELOR WEEK AT COTTONWOOD CAMP

My fiancé just got back from the most epic boys week for his bachelor party and as a queen who does not gatekeep, I have to share for all the fellow brides to be.

Bachelor week stogies at Cottonwood Camp in Montana.

The most charming Londoner, (think tea, accent, Big Ben…the whole package), is my soon-to-be. For his “Stag Do” (which is what they call a bachelor party in England) and his upcoming nuptials to his all-American girl, he wanted to go out ‘bachelor-party-Americana-style. Complete with a yeehaw, fishing, Coors, and a good ol’ pontoon afternoon on the water.

After some digging we found the perfect fit. Cottonwood Camp, in Fort Smith Montana is that way-out-west escape that has become more legend than reality. Nestled a few paces from the Mighty Bighorn River, this camp had everything they were after; cabin-style lodging for groups large and small, drift boats and guides for the perfect intro-to-angling or experienced fly master experience, ample access to lands for target practice and grouse hunting, a full service fly shop, concierge transportation, and even pre-order food boxes for easy prep and meals during their stay.

Cottonwood Camp is right next to some of America’s best fly fishing spots West of the Mississippi. Known for its easy drift and ample supply of Brown trout. It’s far enough from the blare of big city, but easy enough to get in and out with direct flights to nearby Driggs. The Bighorn Canyon offers beautifully views for pontoon party boat afternoons, (hangover recovery anyone), and the surrounding fields are filled with wild Mustangs and bison. It’s truly that special place that earns it the title of being plunked right in Big Sky Country.

The camp’s Guided JET Experience Package was perfect. It included a 3-night stay in their Brown Palace cabin, 2 days of guided fishing on the Bighorn River, and all the gear they needed. Literally, the only thing they had to do was show up. The Innkeeper Sarge at Cottonwood was a rockstar, customizing their experience and communicating every step of the way. My British lad even noted, “I like Americans. When you are nice to them, they are nice right back and when you are mean, well, they have guns.” 😂

When they weren’t fishing, the lads kicked back at the camp and enjoyed the incredible amenities—community fire pit, horseshoes, an archery alley, axe throwing targets, and even a 3-mile fly golf course. Oh, and there was a fantastic selection of cigars for those relaxing evening smokes. An outdoor excursion on steroids for the boys.

The Brown Palace cabin. Wow. This cabin was the epitome of country charm. It’s got 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, comfortably sleeping up to 8 people. Imagine one double bed in the master, a room with two bunk beds, and another room with one bunk bed—a perfect setup for a group of friends. After long days of fishing and nights of drinking, this cabin was their cozy crash pad. The fully equipped kitchen was a lifesaver, allowing the guys to whip up some hearty meals.

And the porch! Early June was the best time they could’ve chosen with perfect weather for cookouts. The porch boasted a 5-burner BBQ grill, and Cottonwood Camp provided top-quality meats like tenderloin, ribeye, and tri-tip. Picture this: a cigar in one hand, a whiskey in the other, and a juicy steak sizzling on the grill. Absolute perfection. For those who didn’t want to go completely off-grid, there was complimentary WiFi and a 65” flat screen in front of a huge, comfy L-shaped couch.

Seriously, Cottonwood Camp is the ultimate destination for anyone who loves the outdoors. Whether it’s a family retreat, a bachelor party, or just a quick getaway, you’re bound to have an unforgettable time. Book this if you’re looking to treat or impress the man in your life!

Cheers (as they say in England),
